For ten thousand years the mighty galactic empire has ruled with the assistance of the ancient and mysterious Order of the Talimar. The Last High Priest tells the story of Edan Aliteri and Jaida Korin, two young telepaths brought to the Imperial capital to take their places as High Priests of the Talimar. A single High Priest brings balance to the galaxy. Two bring its ruin – but that is only the beginning. Together they set upon a path that will forever change the course of human destiny.

The Seekers tell Edan that he was born to be the next high priest of the galaxy. The position calls for maintaining the balance between the various forces that threaten to destroy galactic society. When a second high priest, a woman, is found the fears that the ancient prophesy that spells doom for them all are sparked. The Seekers could simply kill Jaida, but that's not how prophesies work now is it. As every action to avoid their fate seems to bring the prophesy closer to fruition, Edan must learn how visions of the future really work. This is an excellent space opera/romance set in a well realized galactic empire setting. The book could use a little better pacing in the first hundred pages as things set up, but once it starts moving the next 300+pages are full of twists, turns, action, and suspense to make all the set up pages worth it. There's a hint of a sequel in the plot and I'd read it if it was ever produced.
It's a standard fair for self-published books, a little grammar problems here and there, and breaks between character change of views would help. Other than that it's an easy read that most young adult, romance seekers will enjoy.

The Last High Priest eBook Aimee Hubble Reviews
Just finished it. Though it is sci-fi, where I prefer my fiction to lean a little more toward fantasy, I still really enjoyed it. The author did a spectacular job at keeping the plot timing unpredictable. Things I thought were foreshadowed to happen at the end of the book would suddenly happen on the following page, and there was at least one time when I thought to myself, "Now what do we do!?!" Jaida's complexity truly had me stumped. I never knew what she was going to do next, and the ending really twisted her character to seem so much more human than she had appeared for most of the book. It kept me interested, thinking, and guessing.
This could have easily been broken into 2-3 books with greater detail, but I am glad it wasn't - I couldn't wait that long to find out the fate of Edan & Jaida... everything seems to be a trilogy and though I appreciate the suspense, it's nice to have the beginning and ending of a story in one place! This book starts out as a cross between Star Wars and Hunger Games, but morphs into its own worthy science-fiction/romance tale. Psychomaterials are something that I think could spur many books in the future, even with unrelated characters and there are certainly enough beautiful visuals contained in its virtual pages lend to beautiful movie backdrops. If this were a hardcover bought off the shelves of my local B&N, I would have found it worthy of the price - but for only .99 cents as a only publication it's a steal. Publishers will be lucky to grab this author up before it's too late! I would also love to see deeper character development... I want to know more about Feyr and Amalia, what Jaida was thinking when... well never mind, I don't want to include any spoilers in this review!
